Included on the disc are copies of QuickTime 2.0 and the QuickTime PowerPlug (for PowerMac users) plus SoundManager 3.0. These are necessary to run the CDFactory title. INSTALL THESE INTO THE "EXTENSIONS" FOLDER OF YOUR SYSTEM FOLDER AND RESTART. Be sure to remove any other copies of QuickTime or SoundManager from your extensions folder. If you already have at version 2,0 of QuickTime and SoundManager 3.0, you do not need to install the new versions. The PowerPlug is for Power Mac machines only; it speeds up playback considerably. Do not install this if you do not have a Power Mac.
1) If the program seems to bog considerably (QuickTime movies not playing smoothly or skipping, or long delays in the Professor's animations), this is usually a symptom of low system memory. Make sure you have at least 5000K RAM available for the CDFactory title.
2) Programs running in the background will greatly affect performance. Quit
all other programs when running CDfactory, including network software.
3) If you have a single-speed CD-ROM drive, expect some delays as compared
to a double-speed system.
4) Screen Savers. If a screen saver kicks in during use of CDfactory,
the program will operate unreliably (some images may be obscured and it
may crash.) Screen savers may kick in after their alloted period of
inactivity even if movies and animations have been playing on the screen
during this period. It's best to turn off screen savers temporarily.
5) Make sure that QuickTime is loaded. Open Extensions Manager to see if the QuickTime extension, PowerPlug extension (if you are using a PowerMac), and Sound Manager are loaded.
